Subject: Darn Fine Book

Folks,
I just got my copy of "Civil War and Revolution on the Rio Grande Frontier", by Jerry Thompson and Lawrence T. Jones III. Published by the Texas State Historical Association.
Nice fine book and wonderful Civil War Photos. Some are of General Slaughter and his staff taken in Galveston in 1862.
Good clear account of the federal landings on Boca Chica, led by the 15th Maine Infantry and the invasion of the south of Texas. Ending with the aftermath of Palmetto Ranch.
If you want a book to cover the far flung southern corner of the Trans-Mississippi this is the book.

Dusty Lind
