I've got stripes. They are indigo blue with no backing. Took some time, but it looks pretty good.

The big issue for me was whether to wear my light blue jean wool pants with the regulation 1.5" stripes down the seams. I decided against it. I don't want to deal with the blue-pants-are-farb issues even though my blue with tan warp trousers are fantastic. From a distance, blue is blue. For simplicity sake, they are saying in the closet.

I do believe that stripes down the trousers are a legitimate manner of showing rank whether the sleeves bear stripes or not. It's 1.5" for sergeants; 0.5" for corporals. As for me, stripes on the sleeves and the trousers is too much. One or the other is sufficient.
