Folks, we need to keep this going - a formula for success that has twice put the best company in the field at a major event, no small feat.

April 15-17 2005 - Lee's Final Retreat, Saylor's Creek, Virginia. I am the CS AAG for this event and we will be portraying DuBose's Georgia Brigade 5-6 April 1865, culminating in Ewell's surrender at Saylors (Sailor's) Creek. NO modern anything, NO farbs, NO circus - see the website here (photos): http://mainecav.org/lfr/ Pat Craddock of the WIG has been offerred the US command and Mike Hendricks of the IVR is the CS commander. 300 vs 300 infantry plus 40 US cav and horse drawn arty. Marching and fighting and bridge building without a modern intrusion in site...except for some power lines which we want to bury, the preservation goal for the event.

May 8-10 2005 - McDowell, Virginia. I can't go due to the above but this every two years event is a good one. The Battle of McDowell between Stonewall and Milroy/Schenck May 8, 1862. CS is Virginia regiments (32nd, 37th or maybe 10th) and the US is 82nd OVI. I commanded this is 99 and was second in command of the feds in 2003. It is changing for 2005 so I will get some info out ASAP. Modern town detracts but gorgeous country outside town makes up for it. No website I can find for 2005 but will update when I do.

Sept 30-Oct 2 2005 - Corinth, Mississippi. NSA sponsored campaign of Corinth and Iuka Oct 62. We are working on the impression -I favor Missouri CS but the plan would be to bring together the same folks as Mansfield with Frank Aufmuth and the Trans-Miss folks plus Pat Craddock and the WIG as a full regiment, perhaps with RRB participation as well.

Anyway, stay tuned!

Doug
