Subject: Corinth Impression

Boys, General Moore has asked us to assume a Missouri impression for this event. We are the HQ Division Guard, with a mission as Provost as well (fed prisoners, stragglers, etc). We will function as the infantry guard for the General, but I will recommend we fall in with the RRB/WIG for combat.

Uniform: Undyed cotton or wool jean jackets. Many of us already have this. The Appler jacket and trousers at the St Louis Historical Society is a 9 button, 4 piece body jacket worn by a 4th MO soldier named Appler at Corinth. I will e-mail photos to as many of you as I can. Frank Aufmuth has a pattern for this one. According to Frank the jacket and trousers are constructed of a white (drab) wool weft on a brown cotton warp jean. My feelings are we should use either the un-dyed jean on a brown warp from Childs or un-dyed cotton jean from Ben Tart or Pat Kline. Un-dyed kersey would be cool as well.

If you already possess one of the so-called Pentitentiary jackets by Danny, Don Smith, Frank Marek or Fred Baker, you are good to go.

Officer and NCO slots are un-decided. We CHAPs feel that it is the Lazy Jacks turn. I commanded the company at Mansfield and Danny at Franklin. Another possibility off the top of my head is Frank Aufmuth, our battalion commander at Mansfield, if none of the LJ officers can make it.

By the way, both Eric Fair and Tim Ruyle (2nd Sgt at Mansfield) are now clerks at the HQ. Tim's gg granfather was William Ruyle of the 5th Missouri, so you know he is motivated!!

Doug
