Hot off the press from Jon in the UK. BTW, there is a fantastic reference from a civilian who watched the army camp near his home about a "sea of white made from their tents" - shelter tents and flys.

Head Gear
1. Kepi/ cap Richmond depot issue of artillery pattern ( Barksdale/Royall) with leather or painted cloth peak. Sweatband of painted cloth or leather EOG 162/163
2. Kepi/cap Richmond depot issue untrimmed in jean, peak and sweat band as above with or with out cloth chin strap EOG CS 163
3. Civilian slouch hat with bound brim leather or cloth sweatband handswen in with cloth lining, to be of fur felt in black or brown EOG CS 166-169

Jackets
1. Peter Tait Jacket
The "Peter Tait" jacket was manufactured in Limerick, Ireland. This is to be blue/grey kersey wool, jacket is characterised by a five-piece body, two-piece sleeve, and an eight-button front (English script "I" buttons) .The dominant number of surviving examples have linen, rather than cotton linings. The linings should be stamped with a British Army sizing system. With or without shoulder straps. The front edges of the jacket were machine stitched. May be trimmed in red or royal blue on the edges of the collar and shoulder straps. EOG CS 139

2. Richmond Depot Type III
In blue/grey kersey wool made to the standard pattern of this range of jackets 7-9 button front with either English script "I" or plain federal eagle no belt loops no shoulder straps EOG CS 136-137

1. . U.S. Issue Haversack: black Painted canvas/linen with buckle and inner cotton/linenbag. Closure buckle shall be japanned, painted black steel, or unfinished iron;. The leather fixtures can be held onto the haversack with rivets or linen stitching.. Hand sewn EOG US 199/210/211
2. CS issue white cotton button closure all hand sewn construction ( Hamilton Branch ) EOG CS 201

Canteens
1. Wooden "Gardner pattern" canteen EOG CS 209
2. Knuckols pattern EOG 209
3. Tin Drum Richmond type can be jean / cotton covered (limited use as tin was a rare commodity in the southern states since 1863)
4. US issue smooth side or bulls eye with or without jeans / wool cover. Straps should be white cotton drilling, approximately ¾-inch wide and 72 inches in length. With a visible twill weave. EOG US 206-207

Knapsacks
1. Kibler / N. B. Johnston or similar single bag tarred all hand sewn construction
2. Imported English S. Isaac, Campbell & Co / Trotter. Tarred hand sewn construction with correct straps and fittings EOG CS 207
3. US issue 1855 pattern, body to be of hand sewn linen, cotton drill or light weight canvas tarred, leather work can be hand or machine sewn, all straps and fitting to be of the correct pattern and construction EOG US 213

Blankets/ Ground cloths
1. English import blanket grey, brown and off white (known as white mixed Machinaw)
2. US issue blanket brown with correct stripe with or with out hand sewn US mark
3. Civilian/ coverlet in wool or jeans may be lined various shades and woven patterns
4. CS Issue tarred cloth hand sewn with or without hand finished grommets
5. US Issue Rubberised blanket of correct size and construction with 1/4" I.D. brass grommets

Weapons
1. Enfield p53 .577 Enfield rifle Tower or LAC
2. Model 1861 Springfield .58
3. Model 1863 Springfield .58 type 1 or type II
Proper modifications of reproduction weapons to include removal of all anachronistic markings, replacement of barrel bands hammers and other incorrect parts and the remarking of the weapon with correct period marks, also the reshaping and re- finishing of the stock.

Mess gear
1. Cup/tin can boiler with bail
2. Canteen half/ tin plate
3. Utensils, knife, fork, and spoon keep these in a poke bag, or you can use just a spoon and a pocket knife.
4. Large mess boiler with bail limit to 1 to every 4-6 men

All mess items must be of correct construction and materials
Also bring a good number of poke bags ready for the ration issue





Other items

Tents
This should be limited to shelter tents only then few in number to be of the type IIIa or type IIIb in cotton duck machine sewn to main seams. All other parts of it's construction to be hand sewn button to be of either tin or bone
