Doug and all,

This little tidbit was lifted from the RRB newsletter (which I edit). Not much but hey, what fun would it be if we all knew everything up front?

"The Division staff has been putting a great deal of effort into the planning of this event to make it something special. I expect it to be better than the Franklin 1995 event, and if you talk to some vets they will tell you that that was one of the best. You can expect intense battles with thousands of troops on either side, opportunity for grand guard against an actual enemy and other special additions that I am not allowed to share. Our brigade will have both cavalry and horse drawn artillery support, which will add to the experience. Plan to attend this event. The way it looks right now, if the Red River Battalion has all the troops come who have said they will, we will have 200+! So, support the Battalion. We want the 9th Texas to be the main force."

Down a few posts are a few other preliminaries, some of which is detailed in the above passage. At present I've heard or read that we'll have a traveling sutler, horse drawn arty (personally I hope to be crushed beneath one when the team becomes spooked), and a battalion of at least 7 full companies of bad ass Texans-Louisianians-Idahoans-Oregeonites(?)-Arkansans-South Carolinians-Englanders. I've also come across some stuff from one of the authentic civies mentioning a group of them who will be at the event. Opens the possibilities (just a possibility Tom) of some concubines. But don't get your hopes up there.

Fred
