Not a Texan? Even though I have had no fixed address for years (and I am pretending Idaho is not permanent) I did move to the Lone Star with my family in 1970, went to college in the state and claimed it as my home of record until Idaho said you can't do that anymore. My parents and sister live there. I have lots of friends there (some of which wear funny hats and drive big trucks), drink Lone Star and Shiner beer (but not Pearl) and would live on Texas BBQ and chili if given a choice. I can name 30 men who fought at the Alamo, I miss the Oilers, know the words to any number of Jerry Jeff Walker songs, can sing the Texas Fight Song, fell into a gutter in New Braunfels during Octoberfest, ate a chicken fried steak at Youngblood's outside the Aggie Campus, floated the Rio Frio on an old truck tire and know all the Dairy Queens between Corpus and Houston and San Antonio.

And protraying Texans during the late unpleasantness is getting to be a great habit...

Sooooooooo...what's a dude gotta do to be a Texan anyway? I gotta be from somewhere!!!

Doug
