Following a lead from Doug I checked out Burleson's history more closely. Interestingly, though he appears on Baylor's website as a founder figure and in the online Encyclopaedia of Texas his Civil War Service is not mentionned (ahhh 21st Century America, you've got to love it!). Rather he is found in Renfro's (the 2nd Chaplain of the 15th's)biography, where it is stated that he took over as Chaplain with the 15th in early 1863 when Burleson resigned from the regiment.

Oh well, back to the drawing board!

KC
