if this is a double post i'm apoligize.

when i went to salt lake city i left out of alexandria, la. i dont remember all the roads, but i went from alexandria, to shreveport, to ft worth, to whichita falls to amarillo, to raton pass new mexico, to pueblo colorada, crossed the rockies, then straight toward salt lake city. look on an atlas and these towns are pretty much in a straight line. i remember the roads being pretty good, two lanes across monarch pass, but little traffic. once you get south of pueblo, you can go-n-blow, smooth sailin.
Tom's right, HWY 71 is not a good route, not only two lanes, but interchanges out the yang-yang. i'd rather take a beatin than go that way
