Duncan McNiven, who has joined the marshalling team and who will be putting together the results each evening on the event, now has the GPS co-ordinates for all the controls and is loading them into his laptop. If you have a Garman GPS he will be able to download the co-ordinates for you in Tangier. If you do not have a GPS don't worry you will still be able to navigate as usual with the Road Book, and a Mitchelin map as back up (Oh yes, and a navigator!).

I would like the GPS positions please, as a emil or text file if possible. Or on a plain old piece of paper.

See you soon.

James

I would support James request if some people are running with the co-ordinates and some are not' an advantage would appear to be being offered.

Hi Carol and All
Yes i would like to take advantage of Duncan laptop and be downloaded??
ButI was under the impression that the GPS co-ordinates where
only for the end of day control stop over.. NOT when you get lost and are sold in to a harem and have to be ransomed for a camel or an old sing a long with max LP
or sold on eBay

The navigation for the Atlas-Sahara is by Road Book with the Mitchelin map as back-up.

GPS co-ordinates have only been added to the Control positions in the Road Book as a reference. Road Books will be given out in Tangier, i.e. GPS co-ordinates will be given out in Tangier, sorry not before.

This is a slight exageration. I don't have the co-ordinates. What I do have is Peter's promise to send me the co-ordinates.

If I get the co-ordinates before the event, I will make them availabe at the start to anyone with a Garmin GPS. If you have another brand of GPS, you will probably have to enter the co-ordinates by hand, but let me know what you have and I'll try to help.

The good news is the Road Book is nearing completion and will go for printing this week. The GPS co-ordinates were held back until the final check was made on the 139 pages.

Alex, A GPS is like an oil pressure gauge, you are better off not having to think about it!

Hi Peter & Carol

I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. In fact, I the whole day is a bit of a blur now. Thanks so much for coming to the wedding reception and for our present! Starting to really look forward to the Rally now!
