I know that this is a bit late now, but for future reference, I used my standard racing bike, but with a mountain bike cassette on the rear (9 speed 11-32) and a long cage rear mech on. I used a standard double chainset (53-39), and had no problem. My time was under 7 hrs! Does anyone have any other suggestions for next years ride??
