The doe had vanished instantly as soon as she saw Corbeau move. She reappears behind Doubt, shivering slightly. For a long while her gaze remains on Corbeau; eyes wide and full of fear. Then slowly, that emotion vanishes, to be replaced by ... nothing. No longer does she feel.
"You love her, don't you?" she replies, voice bitter, as her eyes dart breifly to Doubt. "Then you break the lores of our land, Corbeau. You know we are only allowed one lifetime mate."
She snorts softly, glancing away, then looks carefully at Doubt.
"He is a killer, you do know that?" she states calmly, obviousely talking about her former love. A slight sneer appears across her beautiful features. "It is in his blood. He always has been and he always will be. What has he told you about himself, his past? Either he has not told you anything, or you are more stupid than I thought. I would not travel in the company of a murderer."
She steps back, shaking out her luxuriant mane. She takes a deep breath which trembles slightly, but her eyes are calm.
"And I will no longer pursue one. From now on, I will have nothing more to do with you, Corbeau. Your son was last seen in the company of a pureblooded stag named Angel." She glances at Doubt. "And you should watch your back. Not just from Corbeau."
Without another word she has vanished from sight; out of their lives forever.
