Full of Prejudice! (JPY)
Christians in HK is not a privileged class but a minority. In general, other minority groups like homosexual group could win more sympathy than Christians could.
Churches started doing charitable works even before HK government did.
Today, it is true that almost all charitable organizations, including the christains’, receive government subsidies. But, paying money alone is not charity.
(Personally, I support the idea that, as an ultimate goal, the government should withdraw all subsidies to all charitable organizations) …
Biologically, sexual intercourse between men violates the laws of nature, if any. From the evolutionary perspective, if evolution is a fact, mammals which practise this could not sustain as a species.
Historically, most cultures we know (Christian’s and non-christian’s) had made the choice to marginalize homosexuality. There were periods and incidents in history that homosexuality seems to be prevalent but they nevertheless could not last for long. Sooner or later, these practices were recognized as something “bad”.
Virtually, no parents would like their children practicing homosexuality. They might accept it only in the name of respect to human right or not to destroy the harmonious relation.
The argument that practices not affecting others should be at least tolerated has no substantial meaning. Human society, especially nowadays, is highly inter-dependent. No single person could immune from being affected by others’ action or non-action. Such effect could be long-term but not so prominent.
Let’s take the example of the so-called sex liberalization (by which, I mean, sexual intercourses need not be limited to within marriage). It is not a crime. It should not affect others if it is done between 2 consenting adults. However, the side effects, if any, are the increase in divorce rate and in number of single-parent children. How much cost are we actually paying for it?
