明光社 has been lying about the 【性傾向歧視立法】for sometimes now.

They have been to the same meeting with Home Affairs Bureau. They know that the propsed Sexual orienation Ordinance only covered a few areas. Plus the church would probably get exemption anyway.

The areas that the anti-discrimination ordinance would cover include:

1. Employment - An employee is not allow to discrimination against a person based on his or her sexual orienation.

2. Education - School is not allow to kick a student out of school if he turn out to be gay or preceived to be of the sexual orientation that he dislike.

3. Housing - A landload is not allow to use not liking the person sexual orientation as the reason not to rent the premise to him or her.

4. Membership- An organization is not allow to deny membership based on the organizer perception of the applicant.

5. Professional membership - A professional body could not refuse a person applying for professional membership based on their perception of the applicant's sexual orientation.

It mention nothing about freedom of speech. The anti-gay group could continue to insult and used degrading term when they talked about people of the sexual orientation they dislike. They could even do it in public because we don't have hate speech law. They could also said it in church because their rights is being cover in religious freedom.

What they properly couldn't do, is to use their position in the company to not hire a qualified person just because they dislike his sexual orientation.

As for school, as it is mostly government sponsored. They could not openly discriminated against a particular group of people based on their sexual orientation, because they are using taxpayer money. Also, the Education and Manpower Bureau would oversee that there is no discriminatory practice in schools.

The real situation is that those who have been openly discriminating against another person based on their precieved sexual orientation could no longer do so openly after the implementation of the law.

As a society, we haven't reach the civility that people would respect other because they are fellow human. Most people are basing it on personal likes and dislikes.

What so horrible to see is that the so-called-Conservative-Christians in Hong Kong would come out and become the hate-spreading bigots, and the church play its part as the hate-spreading machine.
