On the topic of fair use, I was at Fenwick Library today to use one of their Zerox machines. Anyway there was a person on each of the two machines and they must have been their for at least forty-five minutes because when I came back downstairs they were still there copying.

I almost felt like saying something to the effect of "you know if your gonna copy a chapter out a book so you don't have to purchase an original copy thats okay because that its whats considered fair use, however, if your gonna be copying 5 chapters like you've been doing you should really pay for the book so the author recieves some royalty for his/her work."

It seems to me that copyright is hard to enforce in the analog world (ie. college campuses, kinkos, foreign countries), but it is infinitely harder to get people to follow it in the digital world with services like Kazaa and WinMX out there pirating music and movies on a colossal scale.
