Subject: Amatuer radio requirments and getting caught

Hi,

Nice site as I say but just two more comments for you:

1) Morse code is no longer required for Amatuer Radio use in the UK

2) When you say you'll get caught for using other services, to be honest, no you wont. The RA has virtually no resources and are more interested in pirate radio stations and the like or people who cause serious interference to important services than FRS/GMRS/SSB CB etc. users in the UK. They will only respond to a direct complaint and then 9 times out of 10 they either ignore it or the person who complained is asked to foot the bill to track them down. They are seriously under resourced and it's actually quite difficult to track down a handie using 0.5w that is on the move all the time, so why bother. Of course, emergency services, forces or air traffic/radar interference would be an exception as it is dangerous.

Rune
