Sandy -- It really sounds like things are going a lot better for you and that everything you are stressing about could be made better.

For one thing, talk to your guy about the fact that sometimes you need space and to be alone. If you love each other and marry, maybe each of you could have some private space in your house and an agreement that there will be times when you will wish for privacy.

As for the job, any chance you could go back to the previous one? I know job changes are no fun but you have always managed to find something when you need to. Work is such a huge part of our days that being miserable all day affects you even when you aren't at work.

Could you find the cat a home? Have you tried introducing her to your other cats. My 3 year old cat Puck took a liking to our new kitten, Loki. Some cats do get along. If not, is there a humane society who would find the cat a home? I volunteer at the SPCA and most of the cats there do get adopted, including older cats.

I wanted to share one thing about how I have looked at life. There are 3 things that are vitally important to me.
1. A loving relationship
2. The health and wellbeing of my family
3. A career I enjoy.

At one point, I had 2 and 3 but not 1 and I realized that I wouldn't trade what I had for a relationship.

Then in 2002 I met N and we have been happy together since then. But in 2003 I lost my job. And at that time I realized I would not have traded 1 and 2 for a career.

If we have 2 out of 3 of those things, we are lucky.

I did find another job. It has its good and bad but I don't love it the way I used to love my career. It's just a job and I will try to keep doing it for a few more years until both kids are launched. Then I am going to look for something I like more with shorter hours, even if it pays a lot less, just because life is better when you like what you do to earn a living.

Hang in there and try to focus on what is good.

Liz
