The one thing that you need to do is ignore stupid commentators. The pass was NOT forward. Ravelli passed the ball and dropped off in the classic "Newcastle" type move. He was also hit at the same time by a tackler and therefore when the ball was caught, he was behind it. Classic stupid response from the commentator at half way. The man directly in line and in best postion to make the call made it - correctly. Yes Jonesy suffered the consequences of the missed punch out by Myles, but he got that one 100% right. I hope that you review the incident and see what I mean.
In re the sin bin, I attach the discussion recently had by the NRL squad. "For professional fouls and sin bins we discussed that we need to take into account, how many defenders are back? Does the ball carrying team have an acting half? How blatant the breach is." Your point is well made, however there are a number of circumstances that need to be ticked off first. No doubt some would have considered bin but we would need to extend the size of it dramatically to fit everyone in if we acceded to everyone's demands.
Shayne has never been accused of being afraid to penalise. It is a conundrum that people are hailing the game as perhaps the best of all time and yet the Referee gets pilloried! If he blows a penalty for 10 metres, he gets criticised because he hasn't blown one all day. We spectators are certainly in a priviledged position. We can make all the decisions in the world and have no responsibility for the outcome. How lucky are we and Mr Braybrook.

I thought your comments were very good and I hope I have helped to clear up a little mystery.
