Surely the cricket experience shows this can actually work, with Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker on the National panel and Paul Wilson, just recruited. As referees we should be welcoming the inclusion of these guys which would hopefully show players in park footy who are thinking about retiring and becoming ref's that it is a pretty good way of staying in the game. Instead of worrying about our own little patch of turf we need to encourage more ex-players or soon to be ex-players to join our ranks.
