- Ohh, my babies want some food. XD! And LOL to the Shifter-K'anta encounter. OMFG, I love it. The two species get along exactly like that. XD! You guys made my day, reading that. *big stupid grin* -- Khx and Firecreed, 16:08:18 03/08/03 Sat
Two creatures enter the area side-by-side in silence. Khx nudges his companion with a shaggy green muzzle as he halts, settling onto all fours and pressing deadly claws against the soil. "We're here," he mutters, keen amber eyes watching Firecreed. The gold-marked black Morolla nods, sweeping a saddened gaze around the area. "Khiks," she sighs heavily, "I regret coming here now. We're out of our world, and nothing we do makes sense to those here." The Hajrar nods his agreement, not one to lie to ease FC's guilt. "We are," he rumbles in a thick accent, "but we can't go back." The Morolla blinks, then twists her muzzle in a shrug. "Maybe we can. Who knows? Another Portal..."
Silence falls once more as both hunters contemplate that thought. Khx reluctantly seats himself as he sees FC has no mind for hunting, or at least not yet. He'll let her think and then urge her to eat. For now... he'll wait. Firecreed simply closes her eyes, mind searching with all its not-inconsiderable power to find a way home. Back to Nishao Kalimn.

- **scurries** -- Tail-Three-Too-Short, 20:41:02 02/28/03 Fri
**You can hear the sound of a short-legged creature running --- well, scurrying, across the grass, from the direction of the Labyrinth. Looking towards the noise, all you see at first are two strange spots of colour...every imaginable colour seems to be held within those two large round spots. But looking closer, you see a slight warp in the ground around it -- and vaguely, the shape of a large (think a little bigger than a beagle) rat can be made out. He lets out a loud chattering sound**
c'lapsed! Lake! Help need!
**he hurridly repeats this several times before running towards the north**

- *Hunting for fish.* -- Kenshi, 12:36:16 02/15/03 Sat
*Kenshi walks up to the river, and waits patiently for a fish to swim by................................Ah! Kenshi leaps into the water and blocks the way with his wings. The fish slaps against his wings and tries to get past them somehow. But unfortunately it fails. Kenshi slashes it out of the water with his claws. Jumping out of the river,he shakes himself off like a dog,and gets some wood. He puts it together and all of a sudden his wings start glowing red. He taps the wood with his wings. A spark from the wood shoots high into the air. Several different sparks land in a perfect circle formation around the logs. He takes the sparks, for some reason they are still red and hot,and he puts them into his eyes. While in pain, there is a popping sound. Huge sparks come out of his eyes and collide together into a huge ball of fire. They slowly float down and ignite the wood. He puts a stick through the fish and starts cooking it. After eating his meal,he leaves in search of a hotel of some sort.*

- +Teaching+ -- Ax and Tauri, 11:01:27 02/15/03 Sat
"Why am I with you?"
"Lazy. No help to Rivis."
"Lie."
"Exaggeration of truth, Ax."
"Lijin."
"Alik."
"Ax is no ignorant biped Tauri."
+The young femme dicontinued the conversation, finding the terran deer. The Elk fascinated the Rujif, mainly the fact that she'd never towered over prey before. She growled and punced, easily missing the nimble prey. With a growl she cavorted after, leaving her 'brother' behind. Ax laughed softly, watching the pack motions of the deer as Tauri scattered them. He came up more stealthily behind the femme. As the herd she'd disrupted split into two groups, he swung the mace like tail. The speed and force of the blow killed three deer instantly. With a feline grin, he rolled onto his back and yawned.+
"So much smarter than Tauri."
"Tactile. Stratgy."
"Only needed intelligence. Tauri, war beginning."
"Again."
"Different place, time. Tauri fights as well."
"No one has taught."
"Then die."
"You."
+He yawned as she approached him, claws and fangs beared. With a lunge she struck, muzzle meeting Ax's tail. WIth a yelp she backed off and the Rujif bared his horns. Even with half a horn missing he was too formidable. She sat, raising a dust cloud. He laughed and started on one of the deer he'd taken down so easily. She growled and dragged another off. Eating faster, Ax finished the third and started wandering, still unsure what the split of the group was supposed to help. Tauri followed behind, avoiding the occassional tail swipe.+

- Hmf. All that and still no curry. -- Aduni, 15:03:22 02/09/03 Sun
After vainly searching the main street of Nankampi for a good green curry, the ravenous shifter mysteriously disappears from the main city and reappears with a flash of pale green light in the stalking grounds. Shifting quickly into full Cat form, she climbs straight up the side of a tree, blending with the dappled light of the wooded area. She lounges on a branch and waits for some poor beast to walk close to her.
"Patience," she says to herself, though it comes out as a soft growl. Soon enough, a deer, minding its own business, wanders within leaping range at the head of a small herd. The Jaguar poises herself to pounce, barely rustling the branch on which she lies.
"That looks vaguely herbivorous." Emerald eyes narrow. A tail twiches once, twice, thrice, and then as though propelled by a spring, the great cat soars from her hiding place in a great spectacle of raw power. She lands squarely on its back with the unfortunate beast's neck snapped in her jaw. The other deer scatter in terror, stampeding through the forest.
As the bloodlust fades from her, she shifts into her human form to skin the deer with her sword, no mean feat with a double ended blade of that length. Quickly building a spit from fallen branches, she uses a tiny spark of energy to light a fire beneath it and ties the legs of her kill to it with choice bits of sinew. Soon, the smell of deer roasting whole fills the glade. "It's too bad," she says aloud, that these things don't bleed sauce."

- Hey, I may be kinda old and half-ghost, but I'm still hungry!;) -- Symba, 18:21:05 01/19/03 Sun
A small creature creeps into the Stalking Grounds, her white paws barely rustling the leaves as she steps. Her golden eyes search the area for avaliable prey. Locking on a herd of Preda Ben, she singles out out the weakest and slowly creeps forward on her belly, eyes gleaming with anticipation. Finally judging that she was close enough to attack, Symba leaps, claws out and teeth bared. Enjoying the feeling of fangs sinking into flesh, she bites down hard, scurrying up onto the creature's back and forcing all her weight down onto it. Momentarily releasing her bite, she searches for a better hold, nearly getting thrown off in the process and reminding herself to never do this again without another. With a cry, she is flung forward snapping wildly at the air until her jaws finally find another hold: directly at the base of the creature's neck. Telling herself this is the bite that would do it, she bites down then leaps back, watching as the creature falls to the ground and dies. A satisfied grin is on Symba's face as she proceeds to tear the creature to shreds in her hunger, every so often raising her head to make sure that no other threatened her meal.

- Ruh-roh! Dissention in the ranks Cap'n! -- Mesamin || Akartis and Washi, 16:03:44 12/07/02 Sat
Akartis was still curled up, discreetly pretending sleep whilst his two Canis companions conversed. His lanky cream-furred form was still and relaxed, his eyes closed, and his senses not really expecting danger in the Stalking Grounds -- what fool beast would mess with a Korat?
Mesamin slunk through the branches, every muscle slack and every movement soundless. She settled herself on a low branch above Akartis, regarding the young male for a long moment through a pair of cunning, crystaline green orbs. Pale yellow claws were retracted, only an inch of the four-inch length showing from long-fingered forepaws, and thick, sharp, and curving two-inch hindclaws lightly touching the bark - the 'longclaws' set on her hind digits, before the last joint, neatly hidden by long, silky fur. Her rich golden fur was sleek and smooth, except for the bouts of longer, baby-soft fur along her spine, neck, tail, and dousing the lower halves of her limbs to pool around her shapely paws. Three six-inch blades branching from the underside of her tail preceded a two-foot scythe-blade near her tailtip, all four of which were hidden in silken tendrils. A raptorine skull tilted downwards, small, sharp horn on the tip of her muzzle glinting mutedly in the light. Her own lanky form was about four feet high, matching that of her observee, and she was built lean but powerful, with sufficient muscles to wield blades, claws, and shark-like teeth with devestating effect.
Mesamin blinked slowly, totally ignoring the absorbed Canises. And finally, in a honey-smooth voice, she speaks perfect Kalash, "So, Korat, what are you doing on Terole?"
Akartis jumped and untangled his limbs, spinning to peer upwards and flatten his ears. To the possible surprise of both Canises, or at least Washi, he had been completely healed and rejuvenated, with a healthy coat of creamy fur, newly-bright violet-grey orbs, and sharp, shiny black claws. The sight of a Kihin sent him into a completely mindset-switch, that of caution and aggression around a rival and potential enemy. However, only by scent and flattened ears could one read such information - the male remained outwardly calm. "I live here, Kihin. Why are you here?"
Mesamin purred a rich, bubbling laugh, long tail hanging loosely from her branch. "Feral Portal caught me and an acquaintance, though I've not seen her here yet. My name is Mesamin."
Akartis didn't look overly trusting, but he offered his name in the friendly Terolian fashion, "I'm Akartis, son of Redwood and Junior Governor of Terole." For once, titles had their use.
The golden femme chuckled again, pastel orbs amused. "Ooh, I'm impressed. So why aren't you out there fighting? I've heard the metallics exploding, an-"
Akartis rose from his crouch smoothly, lean muscles playing under a glossy pelt. He grinned, "Truce, Kihin, truce. My mother'd have both our hides if we fought when there were better targets only a few dozen miles away. Even you don't want to feel the sidifir oerri's wrath."
Mesamin widened her eyes in mock surprise. "Truce? Only when in active battle, Korat. You're too tempting to play nice with in a boring moment." The Lavanian growl-purrs in her throat, dropping to the ground silently except for the ruffle of silky fur. "But kill your enemies I will, Korat, for they've attacked Lavana, and if I can hurt them in any way, I will."
Akartis' ears re-flattened and he growled. "They attacked Lavana?!"
Mes nodded slowly, scribing a slender arc with her horn. "Yes. The Olashi chased them off, but several orbitors [satellites] were destroyed. They're attacking in droves."
Akartis felt his blood turn hotter and his heart began to speed up, and he in turn nodded. "Then let's go fight, Kihin. I don't want to miss all of their first attack."
The femme chuckled, dipped her head once in acknowledgement, and sprang back into the trees to make her way to the Expanse.
Washi, who had been watching silently, cocked his head as Akartis turned towards the Canis-Magi. "Seleth, mri'qua, I want you at the Sanctuary. Your healing powers will be needed there. Take Washi with you and keep him out of trouble." Winking playfully, the tan bowed to them both and sprang into motion, a rapid lope towards the battle. Washi watched the Korat leave, and shook his sculpted muzzle. "Korats. I never met one personally before now, but I see their reputation is well-founded." Respectfully but also somewhat affectionately, the warrior grins at Seleth. "Shall we fly?" he inquires, gesturing with a wing towards the Sanctuary... or where he judges it is, from the almost soothing scents wafting on warm breezes.

- Bah. I need to kill something. -- Taio, 09:35:51 10/24/02 Thu
The wise Dracai warrior steals low amongst the underbrush, invisible and downwind. His encounter at the Den left him feeling spiteful and angry, and also suprisingly hungry. He reminds himself he hasn't eaten in a good many weeks, a few weeks shy of his usual three-times-a-month feeding schedule. Lithe equine ears slick back on scaled skull as target is scented. A small herd of Junt, uncommon on Anyana but plentiful on Kyta. Just what I need, a Kytan. I'd love to barbecue that Zantarag frante but I'll settle with one of these, I suppose. He grins minutely at the thought of Zantarag steak but turns his mind back on the herd.
Junt were long-necked, bird-like creatures with wicked crocodile-like jaws and several blade-like feathery tails. Up to 8ft. tall, one makes a perfect meal for any average Dracai. But Taio was in a rage. Who knows if he'd stop at one?
Dark grey eyes narrow as Taio stalks through the underbrush on silent feet, saliva dripping off of exposed fangs. Picking one crett that looked like he'd put up a good fight, Taio got into a position where he'd be able to get a clear view of the herd. He had to be careful of the crushing jaws, deadly tail, and raptor claws on its feet, but also the elongated neck wrapped in spines. If a Junt wrapped its neck around a soft-fleshed hunter, the spines would sink in deep and possibly kill the unlucky crett.
Taio shook the thought out of his mind; he had scales, a good protection from the Junt's spines. Slinking ever closer, Taio pauses as one scout's head raises in half-alarm, sharp eyes looking for any sign of a preadator, such as a shadow with 'nothing' which to block light. One thing Taio had to be careful of.
Casting all caution to the wind now, he gives a gigantic roar and lets forth a volley of fireballs, not aiming for the Junts themselves but the ground inbetween them, to scatter and disrupt their organized tendency. Squawking cretts ran in all directions, and the one Taio was after just happened to run in the opposite direction. Dyone it! I hate running. Taio charged, leaping forward several feet and landing on his belly, instantly pushing off with his hind feet and scooting forward faster than he could have run on four legs. He slowly got nearer his prey, every so often throwing fireballs to try to catch the Kytan's tail on fire.
Glancing behind him, he sees the rest of the herd re-grouping together quickly. Diamen! They'll be after my hide if I don't tie this job up quick! He snarled and threw a few fireballs in their direction before picking up speed and catching up with his prey, latching deadly jaws into a hind leg and twisting, ignoring the sharp slashes and slaps given him by the crett's tail. Soon, though, the Junt was thrown to the ground and in flames. Taio scooted back a few feet to avoid the bird-crett's gaping jaws and to watch it burn. He loved this part. A glance behind him told him the herd had given up. Good. I'll be able to eat in peace this time.

- We's A Goin HUNTING! -- Seleth, 17:12:42 10/06/02 Sun
*Landing effortlessly, the violet female lets her body fall into a well balanced crouch. One ear stays instinctively back against her head, and the other flicks up to face behind her, waiting for the sound and scent of her companions. She couldn't help but lick her lips at the prospect of hunting again... It had been so long since she brought down anything with a group. Her jaws drop into a masterful grin, white canines gleaming from mere anticipation.*

- *She enters quietly* -- Zllivan, 17:35:10 09/11/02 Wed
Instinctively the Tokathe's body hunches over, powerful hind legs supporting her now raptor-shaped form. Ears flick back against her head and she lopes out into the open, her eyes flicking calmly out into the long field. Her brows raise at the sight of the amusing ostrich-dinosaurs, and yet, she licks her lips at the mere sight of them. Black femme shakes her head to get out of a day-dreaming state and she licks her paw, raising it carefully to the wind. She was up-wind. Yay.
Stalking quietly through the long grass, her animal instincts rushing through her veins. She can imagine her claws raking swiftly through the prey-beasts hide, blood pulsing over her flank, her teeth grasping and pulling out said throat... Her tail blade giving the final devestating blow! *CRACK*
The Tokathe steps on a twig, lost in her fantasies. The Preda Ben's raise their heads, spooked, then race off in the opposite direction. Zllivan snaps out of hunter mode, groaning at the sight of their retreating forms.
"Oh Frash it!"
And instantaniously Zllivan's pulled out her mini-rifle, and is firing madly at the 'Ben's large rear ends. She snarls with glee as one slumps to the ground, and leaps deftly to it's fallen form. She bites her lip.
She got it right in the arse.
With a silent mutter of apology she grabs the 'Ben's tail and drags it over to the pond... Then drops the lengthy apendage in after scratching it up a bit. A few minutes later she pulls it out, carnivorous fish attached hungrily to the wet flesh. Zllivan scoops them up swiftly before they can leap back in the lake, and with a sigh of annoyance for her lack of primal hunting skills begins the long drag back to the Btsa Bug.

- I GET TO HUNT! BOOYA! -- Dree, 17:59:21 08/13/02 Tue
An emerald-green feline enters the area, pale green spots as markings and a softly-furred stomach of the same pastel hue creating a rather striking appearance... accented by pine green, very alert eyes. The Cano-Kiara -a sub-species of Kumayaki- surveys the Grounds, and lopes towards a thick forest. This ought to be good, she muses to herself, jaw dropping in a saberfanged grin. Silkily-tufted tail waving in the wind of her speed, it only takes but a moment before Dree's reached the grove. She pauses not but lunges up the tree, specially-adapted claws finding holds that few others could manage in the rough, stony bark. Still grinning to herself, the Aya bounds across branches and ricochets off sturdy trunks, leaving nothing more than a quivering twig or leaf to mark her passage, and that only occasionally. Finally spotting some sort of primate a few limbs higher, Dree rockets upwards and before the little bugger even knows what's coming, long dagger-teeth have sunk into its weak skull and killed it instantly. After making sure it's good and dead, the green-furred feline releases her grasp and tosses the eighty-pound monkey on her lower back, using her powerful tail to keep it there. That ought to feed the cub, now for the other one. Smug with the ease of her first kill, she runs through the trees as swiftly and as easily as a normal Aya would run across a level field, the primate hardly slowing her down. Finally scenting larger prey, the Cano-Kiara pauses and slinks through the branches, finally coming to a halt directly above a simple, white-tailed deer. Forcefully supressing a laugh at the ease of this hunt, she carefully and silently sets the primate down on her branch. Unfortunately, she forgot about how messy crushed skulls are, and several drops of blood alert the doe below. It takes off in a rush of disturbed foliage, but Dree races after it, staying about ten feet above it. The predator-scent doesn't fade, so the doe doesn't slow, but a well-timed leap brings the Aya crashing down on its back. Elongated fangs sink into the deer's spine, breaking it, and another deep, precise bite snaps its neck. Cheered by her success, the feline returns to the trees, retrieves the monkey, and then begins to drag the deer back to the Sanctuary.

A dark blur mars the twilit horizon. Steadily pumping powerful wings, the tough Caeth must fly fast to maintain speed and velocity, with three passengers. As the draconian crett nears the great field, she slowly drops in altitude, finally skimming the ground. Landing at this speed is no easy business. Finally, Lunima jsut flares her wings against the oncoming buffet, pulling herself into a backwinging land. Crouching, she lets the three Korats dismount before straightening again.

The large black quadruped slinks in, muttering rising in her throat. She spots several Preda Bens, and, knowing they were for Korats, began to move fluidly toward them. Hunkering low, she waits for one of them to lower its head and graze, back to her. The wind was favorable, too. With a sudden leap, the draconian lands on the thing, sinking teeth into its neck and killing it...less messily than usual. After striking down another, the black Caeth hunts up a Naza for herself, and moves out to the Silverstream.

- HUNT!!!!! -- Redwood, 07:44:12 04/07/02 Sun
The burly Korat trots in, head high, and looks about her with a searching eye. Knowing TFD, she would come, and then they could have a decent hunt together. As she crests a hill, she looks down upon a rarely-visited bowl in the land. A massive herd of Preda Bens mills around, grazing and foraging below. "Perfect," she rumbles, backing away and crouching just out of sight. Trusting TFD to follow her scent, since a howl right now might spook the herd. Nestling into the rocky terrain, she waits for her friend.

- *The silent form moves swiftly through the tall grasses upwind of the masses of prey* -- Ayrist, 16:47:00 03/23/02 Sat
*She had left the Sanctuary after making sure that Akartis was in the capable hands of others. She had left him unconscious, but trusted the healer as she had watched her skill while healing at the Lake, and she had great faith that Akartis would be revived by the time she returned. But now, she needed to relieve the immense anger and pressure that had been resting in the back of her mind the entire battle. And so, senses onced tuned in to that the thought of the blood of a red, now shift to the blood of any other creature she could kill. Her ears flatten against the back of her head as her eyes settle upon the flank of a strange creature, a mix of a terran lizard and ostrich... a Preda Ben. She shifts her head along the multiple creatures within her vision until her violet orbs lock upon one with a deep gash on it's left side, she inhales the scent of the blood and with a grin promises to finish the job that some other crett had left undone. Staying low to the ground, hidden muscles ripple under a dark black flank as she moves slowly towards the prey of choice. She waits until she is about 10 feet away from the creature, and grins to herself at her ability to remain undetected. Then, with a roar of pure malice she leaps from the ground, neck somewhat extended. Her foreclaws tear deeply into the creatures back and she pulls her backlegs up. The Preda Ben heads into a surprised run, screaming in bloody pain. Then, out the blue, it jerks it's neck around and begins to peck savagely at Ayrists unprotected head. But her tailblade meets it first, claws digging farther into the creatures muscle to stay upon it's back she deftly parries aside the creatures beak, leaving a large dent. The Preda Ben screams again. The black Korat then digs both razor sharp hind-claws into the creatures muscular legs, attempting to slow it down and partially distract it. This works well as the Preda Ben is forced to slow the pace due to immense pain. With this safer speed, Ayrist is more comfortable to move her weight forward so she can lash out with sharp teeth towards the Preda Bens throat. But the prey is ready and brings the deadly curved beak down to crush the Korat's head, Ayrist senses this movement however and jerks her head to the right so that only her ear is damaged. Then, before the Preda Ben can attack again, Ayrist lashes her coiled neck forward once more, and recoils it to bring back the bloody throat of the creature. Unable to make another scream the Preda Ben merely moans as it's slow lope comes to a stop. Ayrist loosens her bloody hold upon it's flank and flings herself from it's body before it falls silently to the ground. Grinning broadly with the stress relieved from this kill, she wraps her tail around one of the Predabens long muscular legs and begins the long haul to the Sanctuary. She ignores the pain of her left ear, of which half is left.*

- The Annoying Little Snake Bird... -- Kej, 15:21:38 01/28/02 Mon
She flies in, appearing abit overwight, though she hasn't eaten anything since she had followed that Hunter. Flitting to a nearby tree she draped herself across a limb, watching the action below, if she knew this place's name, she may not have dubbed it her and her to be nestlings, and indeed I said nestlings. Suddenly she took to the air again, landing in a much higher tree then before, finding a forked branch, from there she gazed around at her surrondings. Kej paused giving a chirpof victory having found a suitable nest on the ground between two large roots. Diving down there she nudged the dirt smooth with her wings before settling down, obivously cautious despite no one seemed to be near... Instinct.

- *Burning with fury* -- Apollo, Cleo, Miracle, Beauty, R,P,L, 05:56:22 01/20/02 Sun
*The family follows the "lead" male Apollo, who is trembling with anger. He decides to take it out here, on so poor unsuppecting creature. Lamb yips softly and nudges Cleo, who nudges him back.* It's ok... *Apollo turns back.* Stay here! *Lamb nods as does Cleo. He listens hard and suddenly, leaps. He has discovered a full grown elk, kicking and biting him. Apollo savagely leaps up on it's back and lunges for the throat, slashing his back legs across the elks back. It drops to the ground with a slam. Miracle and Beauty whimper and cuddle closer to Cleo. It is the pups first time they have been taken to a kill. Apollo rips open the sandpaper fur and yips gentley. Cleo and the gang comes foreward. As Cleo and the cubs eat from the part apollo tore and Lamb and his friends eat from the end, Apollo watches, guarding his food. Then he turns and yanks off a piece. He gulps it down and licks his chops. His hunger satisfied and so is his anger.*

- *The Xenne enters, after a few long detours to get here.* -- Kleymu, 21:09:08 01/18/02 Fri
*Already worried about what may be plaguing her young companion back at Golden Silverstream, Kley hurries into the area, bright eyes alert. At the first few tries to sneak up on various prey, her hide gives her away - not the pine green base colour, but the blood red points and turquoise mane. Teal eyes flashing annoyance, the hunter bounds into an open field, spotting a herd of Preda Bens and going for them in a rapid lope. They ignore her, but when she slams into a big hen, a few react, moving placidly away. Unused to such negligence on the cretts' part, Kley kills the 'Ben she pounced and hauls it away by the long neck, jaws clamped firmly and teeth impaling the tasty flesh. It'll take her a good while to get back to Banretin, but she drags the meat diligently, despite the fact it weighs two-thirds as much as she does.*

- *A black form trots into the area silently, an intense grin curving her muzzle.* -- Luujh, 17:09:36 12/15/01 Sat
*The Meure, blazing gold eyes half-lidded, stops once she reaches a vantage point and splays her toes on the rock, seeming to brace herself against the world. Glossy fur ruffled by a chill wind, the feline scents the breeze, quickly locating a herd of somethings in the distance. Her eyes open fully and she focuses her pupils like a pair of binoculars, her infrared vision picking up on very large herbivores. Satisfied, her eyes focus to normal range again and she springs off the cold rock, long tail coiling behind her as she bounds forward, heavy paws hardly touching the half-frozen ground. Claws still mostly sheathed, Luujh slows as she nears the big beasts, lowering her form to slink and use the shadow of bushes. Almost as an afterthought, she glances up at the lone moon. The red one. A good night for a kill. Stilling her tail, she watches and waits. The bigger of the two was three times her height easily, and could stomp her out of existance if she wasn't fast enough. Opening her mouth in a yawning motion, two saberfangs slide into view, as though unsheathing claws. She closes her jaws again, both long fangs now curving to her chin. The Meure tenses her stocky form, before leaping and running hard towards the bigger male. A rasping growl seems a background tone as both big animals bellow and grunt, stomping the earth, and not running away. Easy! With a fanged grin, the femme charges forward, swinging around to the outside of her chosen prey, and leaping. The heavy frame of the Meure slams into the brown beast, and it staggers to its knees from the impact. The smaller animal bellows once more and takes off running, its eyes rolling in fright. The hunter's tail whips, and the dense knot of bone on the tip smashes into the prey's shoulder blade, shattering it. The beast screams, the noise suddenly high-pitched and piercing, and Luujh flattens her frayed lobes, drowning it out in a challenging yell of her own. Having prevented it from rising again, the feline springs onto the animal's back, stalking forward along its spine with claws embedded for traction, aiming for its neck. Once her weight rests between the prey's shoulder blades, it bellows again, trying to turn its long neck and bite her. She retaliates with a slash to its muzzle, growling, before sinking her fangs into the beast's neck, clamping her jaws around its spine and gnawing. A Meure's jaws are incredibly powerful, but with fangs extended, those teeth would be easily broken if she were to use full force and crush the animal's vertebrae. With a violent jerk, Luujh pulls her head back, jaws still clamped, and slices cleanly through the beast's spine. Dead in seconds, the brown animal crumples as its killer springs away, landing lightly and turning to face the feast. "Next time, maybe I should pick a smaller target," she murmurs, suddenly remembering she's only feeding herself. Highly pleased, however, the Meure moves jauntily forward, snarling at any who may come too close to her meat. Crouching, she propels herself effortlessly over the beast's torso and to the other side, then turns to face the belly. Her long tail winding in intricate patterns behind her rump, she contemplates the soft belly-fur of the beast, coloured a light tan. With a mental shrug, she shoots her claws and slashes a few times, and backing up as a pile of intestines and a surprising amount of gore spill out of the stomach. Feeling her hunger hit again full-force, she sniffs at the cords of stomach-flesh, before recoiling in distaste. Unfortunately, whatever this beast ate would not be too healthy for the predator. Upset, but still proud of the kill, Luujh trots backwards, then leaps onto its flank, glancing at the weak hind legs before turning to the muscular shoulders of the prey. Here was good meat! Quickly, she set about to skinning a section, before she yawned and retracted her saberfangs again. They had no place in eating. With gusto, she sets to her meal, stomach quickly ceasing its audible complaints as she fills herself with rich, warm, and fatty meat.*

- the stalker... -- A'yka, 12:47:01 12/02/01 Sun
Dull red shade reflects naught in the darkness, pitch black eyes 'eating up' all light around. There was this faint scent of something unknown.. he looks momentarily at the fallen beast (Preda Dens) before creeping closer to the origins of the scent. He hoped it was better tasting than the other he had caught.
After roaming the underbrush a loud rustle of leaves catches his attention and instantly he springs forth, gaining the thrill of the hunt. After a shortchase in the bush he encounters the animal, noticing it's high stance and enormous horns. After taking it down by throwing it onto the ground with his forepaw he skids to a halt, preparing himself to leap at it at the same time. The elk rolls, one leg severely wounded and with a great, yet hastened effort it rises up, horns pointed towards the assaulting T'kha. Barely noticing the horns he had leapt towards it, crashing onto the horns. The elk cries in pain and anger at the pressure and strain on it's skull and neck, injured hindleg almost giving in to the massive pain. It tosses it's head trying to spot the predator, the increased wheight on it's horns going unnoticed. A'yka crasps the horns, muzzle snapping at the horns in weak attempts to have himself set free from this strange beast. But there! As hind legs fet hold of some furry surface his claws grasp it and he tries to unflip himself, motions cut short as the elk roars in pain, head flung back and forth untill something fell by it's side. Knowing of it's injured leg it lowers head and sweeps right toward A'yka. When he realizes what is happening he quickly pulls his leg under his bod and leaps forth, instantly encricling the beast.. Much blood already covered the ground but went on unnoticed. The smell merely aiding the blood lust. After two circles he notices the limp leg and the animals sight being lesser than his.. And it had only the white uncomfy shield protecting it's head! A'yka raises his muzzle, neck pushed forth in a row of clicking sounds. A chanting of promised victor. He knew it's weakness, he knew it's exhaustion. With a loud eerie roar he jumps right infront of the horns to provoke it, second later leaping sideways and onto it's side, claws tearing it's side into pieces, teeth grasping it's neck, thrusting.. Even though the horns were in his hind legs it did not matter, he simply couldn't feel it. The snap of it's neck silencing it's cries. The fall of it marking it's death. And there he stood, clicking vigorously.. With such the baddest taste in his mouth. Eyes observing before departing the blood stained scene. Nothing left behind but the bloody tracks of the sole survivor and the hushed echo of the click, reverberated by the tree sprites...

- ~*Hunting*~ -- Tageera, 15:24:28 11/29/01 Thu
*She walks silently on four legs, her tail held low and still, and her scales blending in perfectly with her surroundings, rendering her invisible. She spies a herd of Domatira and folds her forelegs to stand on her hind legs. Her teeth silently extend from her skull, and the claws on her hind feet raise and stiffen. A low rumble is emitted from deep within her chest and her eyes shift from their camoflauged coloration to that of a golden mottling. Still stalking silently, she moves upwind of the herd, causing a mild state of panic among the deer-like creatures. They lift their oversized heads and bugle, shifting their positions nervously. The hunter crouches, golden eyes narrow ominously. She turns her head and shrieks at the forest behind her, and the piercing cry echos all around. Still upset, the herd moves downwind quickly. Tageera leaps into the trees above and travels quickly and lightly among the branches, soon reaching a point just above the herd. Still running, she selects a well-muscled male and suddenly leaps out of the branches, landing amidst the male's back. It slightly larger than she, the male howls and goes berzerk. Tageera slashes with first one toe claw then the other on either side of the Domatira's back, digging deep into the flesh. Bellowing, the male rakes his antlers along his back, in a motion to scrape off his attacker. Tageera glides forward, up nearer the skull, and slices at the male's spine with her tail and toe claws. Grasping it tightly with her forelimbs, she stabs it repeadedly with her dagger-teeth in the back of its skull. It stumbles and swerves trying to keep up with he herd, which is now some distance ahead and gaining. Tageera shifts her weight entirely on one side of the crett's body, slicing at its foreleg with her tail blade, cutting it deep. The combined efforts of her bodyweight and tail cause the crett to fall, which meant the end for the unlucky prey.*

- **The father appears and also joins the hunt** -- Apollo, 04:31:21 11/27/01 Tue
*He breathes in the air, the air of his blood, the air of his best job. Hunting.
Apollo always has something. He goes for the fish, picking 1 medium size one for the kids, or cleo. Then it is his job to get his favorite game, Elk. He licks his chops and bounds toward a herd of elk. They flee, but the leader stays back. Apollo studies him, the leader was trying to help a femme and her new calf. He sees the thick meat, but it reminds him of Cleo and The cubs, waiting. He goes for the second largest elk, who kicks in brutally in the side. But he hangs on, and his teeth find the vein of life. His prey falls to his feet, and apollo looks up, his muzzle bloody from the kill, but so is his side from that kick. He ignore's it and starts to drag the kill to M,C,B. The fish lies forgotten, but then apollo takes its tail, and flings it into the water wth all his might. Then he contienuies with his journey.*

- *Prowling hunter..* -- Tevrain, 13:12:14 10/28/01 Sun
*One scarlet paw is placed before the other, as the male walks with measured precision. There is a herd of Neviirs nearby, and he intends to win two of them for his own. Stealth is vital, and he maintains his own. Burning optics search out the small group. With a wild mrowl, the Xaerped is sent bounding across the field. A flying leap lands the sinewy beast upon one of the prey's back, and a few blows from gargantuan paws insure a kill. Driving saberfangs into jugular all the same, he is rewarded with a warm flow of lifeblood. Tevrain takes another, a full grown sable male this time. Hooking one about his tail scythes, and the other in his jaws, he pads from the area.*

- His stomach growls another complaint as he reaches the Stalking Grounds -- Arhu, 16:59:02 10/01/01 Mon
quietly he presses his wings close to his back and stalks for food. His sensitive nose tells him of some elk in a nearby cluster of trees. Gently he pads over, his nose twitching and his ears honed in on the sound of his prey ripping up grass from the soil. His jaw chatters in anticipation for the bite that would crush an elks neck. The elk come into veiw. There is a herd of about 9 or 13 in a semi clearing with trees surrounding and scattered about them. He picks a rather fat and slower female. She's set off but not too much, an elk is near her and he's keeping an eye out. Arhu sees that he can make a side approach on one side of the female away from the male. Quietly he sneaks over careful not to scare them. He reaches his point of attack. As he steps forward, ready to make the kill a dry twig snaps under his paw. All 13 heads snap up, ears pricked forward, Arhu is forced to make an attack now. He leaps from the shadows, aiming for the female. She runs but not before Arhu makes a deep scratch in her hind leg. The Elk set off at a fast paced run but not fast enough. Arhu kicks into high gear, his long delicate legs, lithe body, large paws, and sturdy tail are built for speeds up to 80 mph. He catches up to the femme at an easy lope and makes a swipe at her injured leg hoping to make her stumble. she does and bays in fear and she comes crashing to the ground in a rush of snapping bramble and undergrowth. quickly Arhu moves in to make the kill before she can get up. He grabs hold of her neck. His jaws spasm on instinct, crushing the females neck and windpipe. Slowly the life fades from her eyes and Arhu makes a small preyer in thanks to her sacrifice. He then drags it to a secluded spot and feeds.

- Hunting time -- Tiesha, 13:13:02 08/07/01 Tue
Tiesha walks in. Her hoofs covered in pads so she can stalk without sound. She sees a bird,a goose! With everlating pacience,Tiesha waits for the goose to waddle out from behind a hollyberry bush. Her hind legs crouch, ready to spring. And her nails dig into the soft earth. The goose's tail appears and then the legs follow. Tiesha lowers her head and hopes silently that her yellow tiger stripes won't stand out so much on her black body that the goose can see her. Suddenly the goose waddles out from behind the holly and heads for her bush. Now,now, now!!! Tiesha pounces, nocking the unfortunate goose a blow on the head with her hoofs. He didn't stand a chance. Her curly tail wraps around the goose's limp body body, enabbling her to carry it away from anyone who would steal him from her.

- >.< -- Andalyn, 07:40:45 08/05/01 Sun
*The black Korat slinks in, every sense on high-alert. Taller than the usual red who hunts here, the female can scent the other's definitive smells, markings of old kills. She dimly notes the marks of a younger pair, male and female, but they're old and faded. Pale orange eyes cast an intense gaze about as the Korat moves in deeper to the Grounds. Hyper-senses hear her heart pounding with the beginning thrill, feel the blood rushing through her veins, hear her breathing become deeper, excited. Glimmering tail blade held low, she lowers her well-toned form and slinks.
The smell of the required animal is ahead. Such meat is rare and precious, only used for the young or injured Korats. Redwood, when she had ruled, had had the good mind to stock a few here. The animal wasn't large, really. Maybe four feet high, twenty long. It looks like a spider, only with a longer, snakish body and large head. Long fangs and grasping claw-pincers on the end of its many legs were its only defenses against predators. To a Korat hunter, however, the beast is helpless.
Andalyn swallows a rumbling snarl, not wanting to risk losing this prey. A kinsman needed this food, and though she didn't know him, she would help. The Chnka was grazing, long fangs snatching and spearing large fruits from a nearby bush. With a high-pitched scream, the black springs forward, sprinting at almost-top speed. The Chnka hisses its fear and turns to flee. With so many long, jointed legs, it can move when it needs to. Sharp, deadly claws dig into the dirt as Anda pushes herself harder, faster. The crett will not escape. It shrieks, trying to call to its family for aid. With a silent leap, the black's momentum carries her through the air and onto the Chnka's back. It flails, trying to reach her with pincers and fangs alike.
With a swift blow to one side of legs, it collapses. With another slice of blade, half the other legs are gone. It writhes, raising itself like a snake, but Andalyn steps almost daintily forward. A rapid strike, and two twelve-inch claws drive into the Chnka's back. A twist, and the clawtips face each other. A push, and the spine snaps. The crett falls heavily, but dies swiftly, if not painlessly. The Korat leaps off lightly, licking the nourishing blood from her hind claws and tail blade. Grunting, she hauls the Chnka to the Desert, despite the fact that it weighs many pounds more.*
