The General Assembly
AIDS treatments

The General Assembly,

Realizing that all people have in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights to life, yet the AIDS epidemic has killed 30 million people in two decades and has infected 40 million more people, treatments are scarce yet the distribution of AIDS treatment is not hasty enough to treat those who have been infected with AIDS.

Aware that the UNAIDS has set a detailed plan to provide antiretroviral treatment to 3 million people in developing countries by the end of 2005. Yet the 3 by 5 plan is not hasty enough to reach the ultimate goal of providing universal AIDS treatments and to cure those that have been infected and others that will be infected in the future.

I. Expresses Deep Concern:

(A) 30million people died in two decades because the AIDS treatment wasn’t available and another 40 million have been infected;

(B) In developing countries as many as 6 million people with HIV/AIDS need the antiretroviral treatment immediately;

(C) Today only about 400,000 people receive the antiretroviral treatment that’s about 8% of those in need;

II. Is aware that:

(A) The UNAIDS is taking many steps to distribute the antiretroviral treatment as fast as possible;

(B) There are not enough resources to distribute the antiretroviral hasty enough;

(C) The UNAIDS is trying to slowly distribute treatments to everyone;

III Recommends

(A) That the General Assembly:

1- Try and distribute the antiretroviral treatments faster and to countries that are in need immediately;

2- Open a department within the UNAIDS that focus’s on just providing AIDS treatments to everyone;
