AIDS

The General Assembly,

Realizing all countries around the world have people with AIDS, Panama is not as high as other countries. Although, we have a lot of children each year becoming orphans due to their parents dying of AIDS. An estimated 9,000 children (under age 15) we’re left homeless in 2001 due to the death of their parents from AIDS.

I. Expresses Deep Concern

(A) The main reasons AIDS is affecting people in Panama is due to their behavior. This behavior includes multiple sexual partners, injecting drug use, etc. in which exposes individuals to AIDS.

(B) This results in a large percentage of adults (age 15 and above) getting infected with HIV/AIDS, while also a large amount of females pregnant, and males who infect future female partners.

(C) This decision made by adult individuals result in the future generation either infected with HIV/AIDS, or there parents infected and will soon die, leaving the child parentless.

II. Is Aware That

(A) Realizes that the people of Panama have knowledge of prevention methods against HIV

(B) Recognizes that the government of Panama has identified the population most at risk for HIV/AIDS

(C) Is aware that UNAIDS has regular surveys in order to see how many are infected and what the people of Panama’s behaviors are like;

III Recommends

(A) That the Security Council:

1. Strongly condemn the action of the people of Panama’s behavior towards this life threatening disease;

2. Forcefully tell the people of Panama of more knowledge on how this will affect not only themselves, but future generations as well

3. Make it economically easier for people to get protection, and hire speakers to indulge about this topic

4. Set up a council that will speak to young children, as well as adults about the risks and steps they need to take to make this a safer environment.

5. Set up a UN team to advise people around all Latin America about this crisis with fighting against HIV/AIDS.

6. Communicate this intent to

7. Communicate the intent of failure to follow safety precautions.
