Madagascar Spencer Belsvik
The General Assembly
HIV/AIDS

The General Assembly,

Many cyclones and natural disasters have swept the eastern coast of Africa affecting South Africa and Madagascar, killing hundreds of people and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

Madagascar is in dire need of help and cannot survive on its own.

I. Expresses Deep Concern
(A) Cyclones have been killing thousands over the years devastating many countries, and still these countries are recovering because they didn’t receive proper help,
(B) 300,000 are still homeless in Madagascar and they haven’t got any money or food and still have a long way to go till prosperity,
(C) Most of Madagascar’s cash crops and major exports have been destroyed and Madagascar hasn’t obviously not been profiting from this ordeal,

II. Is Aware That
(A) We realize Madagascar has already been sent 2.24 million;
(B) We recognize that it will take a lot of time for Madagascar to heal for the cyclone;
(C) We are aware that the cyclone hit hard and most of Madagascar is in need of help;

III. Recommends
(A) That the Security Council
1. Madagascar should be sent the rest of the 8.9 million;

2. Madagascar should be sent workers and factories so that it may rebuild its economy;

3. Madagascar should have supplies such as food and other items sent to help;

4. The matter should be taken care of immediately.
