The General Assembly
Right to Education

The General Assembly,

The right to an education is fundamental human right. It occupies a central place in human rights and is very essential and indispensable for the exercise of all other human rights and for development, But still millions of children remain deprived of education opportunities many on account of poverty. Achieving the right to basic education for all is thus one of the biggest moral challenges around the world.

“Education for all” means what it says, the international community has committed itself, in the Dakar frame work for action, to having all eligible children attending fee-free primary schooling by the year 2015.

I. Expresses Deep Concern

(A) None of the civil, political, economic and social rights can be exercised by individuals unless they have received a certain minimum education.
(B) As an empowerment right, education is the primary vehicle by which economically and socially marginalized adults and children can lift themselves out of poverty and obtain the means of a proper education.
(C) Several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa have recently abolished primary education fees.

II. Is aware that

(A) Schools must be places where stereotypes are undermined, not reinforced, through gender-aware curricula and professional teacher training.
(B) But in spite of all the commitments made by government officials under international instruments for providing education for all, especially free and compulsory quality basic education.
(C) Full gender equality in education would imply that girls and boys are offered the same chances to go to school and enjoy teaching methods, curricula and academic orientation unaffected by gender bias.

III. Recommends
(A) that the security council:

1. Introduce gender equality

2. Build more schools in poverty stricken areas

3. Make primary and secondary schools fee-free
4. To setup a program that allows all children to go to school.

5. Donate more money to funding the educational programs.

6. Make a foundation that is totally dedicated to giving all children a chance for education.

7. Setup an International law that allows poverty stricken kids to get an education.
