The General Assembly,

Realizing that to achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, yet approximately 130,000 people are living with AIDS in Vietnam and international problems are not being solved by all countries,

Aware that HIV/AIDS has been a bigger problem for other countries around the world, however the right to awareness of HIV/AIDS should be given in equal amounts to everyone around the world

I. Expresses deep concern:

A) The age group 20-34 has the most amount of people infected with HIV/AIDS, groups begin a heavy increase at 15 years old and a substantial decrease after 54 years old.

B) 38.2% of the Vietnamese population infected obtained the disease from IDU�s (injecting drug use); An ideal environment has no illegal drug users, and the used needles should be properly disposed after every injection

C) An estimated 130,000 people were living with AIDS in Vietnam as of 2001; Number of people living with AIDS in Vietnam has increased at higher rates

D) IDU�s indicate that 28% of drug equipment is shared upon them selves

II. Is aware that:

A) 36.1 Million people are infected with HIV/AIDS, and 23 million of those are workers in the ages of 15 � 49

B) 0.36% of the infected AIDS population lives in Vietnam compared to 7.2% in South Africa

C) 80% of all the world�s children orphaned by HIV/AIDS reside in Sub-Saharan Africa

D) HIV/AIDS killed about 2 million adults in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2002 alone

III. Vietnam Recommends

A)That the Security Council should

1) Allow Condom Factories to sell shipments all around the world, as well as special trade agreements used for selling condoms.

2) Hire educational employees to teach 3rd world countries about AIDS

3) Crack Down on illegal drug users

4) Give funding to researched medical organizations who are the closest to finding the HIV/AIDS cure such as the US National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Disease.
