Republicans and Democrats have done many things right, many things wrong. When I wrote on the list, "Geoff, is there a pattern forming here? Pay attention!!" So the judges are *******'s and other names....that doesn't matter right now...if an attorney consistantly requests very large settlements, and of course, they are deserved, and the judges in that state keep overturning the judgements...pick an amount high enough to compensate the families, high enough to repay the attorneys who work their hearts out for their clients, BUT pick an amount that has a better chance of not being overturned!!!! A WIN WIN settlement for all! It doesn't get overturned, the family doesn't have to go thru the whole process again! IMO there is no amount of $$$$$ high enough to ever compensate for the pain and suffering....but if it gets overturned, there is no money PERIOD! No, that doesn't address tort reform right now, it doesn't address a whole lot of stuff, BUT it gets the family their money, and then we work on reform! Examine the situation, the facts, the history, and then pick a solution (an amount) that HAS a chance of succeeding!!!!!
