Dear Alvin,

I am very impressed with my father-in-law. I would venture to say very few people have a father-in-law like him. He is very unassuming. I would venture to say, like him, you are modest about your abilities. You need to give yourself more credit. Take it from me. Your command of English is wonderful. I taught ESL for a few years. I take the term cadence from being a musician. I think it is an approriate way of describing the rhythms of speech.

You are right about my mother-in-law. She loves to cook! And what dishes! She literally bakes thousands of cookies for the Lunar New Year. And she makes her own chili sauce. Now that is strong. You can't even come near the front of the house when she is pounding the chilis. The smell permeates the whole place. And it goes right up your nose like a bomb.

Thank you for your kind wishes. Although Christmas is not a religious holiday for me, I love its spirit. I celebrate the Winter Solstice. It really doesn't matter what we celebrate as long as it fosters goodwill and harmony. We celebrate both Solar and Lunar New Years.

Love And Blessed Be,
Theresa
