Although I talked about achieving balance, I do not support any one party imposing on another too. Passive submission is not the solution. If you read the Bible, woman was "made from man's rib" to be by his side, not under his will. WOMAN means the "W-onder O-f M-A-N", and not of a subservient role.

You'll probably have to make it clear to him what you felt, not in an confrontational way but in an honest way. Let him know the "hurting truth" and suggest ways that he can truly make you happy.
