Dear Denise,

Thank you so much for your kind compassion. What do you mean I used to love ice cream?! Ice cream is a passion of mine! Once an ice cream lover always an ice cream lover. :-) I am sorry your husband got sick from eating so much of it. Tell him there is such a thing as restraint.

Now to the shingles. Shingles are not just a matter of having a rash. It goes much further than that. First of all, the shingles are caused by the herpes zoster virus. This is the same virus that causes chickenpox. But shingles and the chickenpox are different. Shingles attacks the nerves so a person gets horrendous nerve pain. I went through several types of pain at one time. There is the lightning bolt pain in which it feels as though a lightning bolt hit you or somebody struck you with a very hot iron. This happens very suddenly and takes you for a loop. Then there is the burning stinging pain. There is the deep joint pain. Then come the creepy crawlies as though there are bugs inside of you. I am fortunate it was not on the tip of my nose. That is very dangerous as it involves the eyes. And one could lose his/her eyesight. I am still in quite a bit of pain. I went to see my physician on Friday. He diagnosed me with postherpetic neuralgia. It is the aftermath of the shingles and a very painful condition which can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Rarely, some people have it for the rest of their lives. The doctor prescribed neurontin and more vicodin. I bless the person or people who came up with neurontin. The combination of neurontin and vicodin have worked wonders for me. I still have the pain but not all day. And I can now get some much-needed sleep. Also the neurontin gets rid of the creepy crawlies. My twin soul is also here. And that is a great comfort to me.

I am glad to hear your cyst is doing a lot better. But please keep an eye on it. If you need to see the doctor, please do not hesitate to do so. I would recommend highly that you do see the doctor even though you feel you are better.

Love And Blessed Be,
Theresa
