Subject: Ashrams and SRF

"A YSS monk said that the devotees off on their own were more attuned than those near the centers, by and large. Well, I saw that for myself. Many of the worst basket cases are in the ashrams. Most could not lead the life anywhere else. This is my experience."

Very true. I have seen the same at ashrams. Also, the Guru who first initiated me into Siddha yoga had spent much time at Sivananda's ashram, also Kripalvananda's ashram and others in India... he said in terms of seekers, the f___ed up folks were in the ashrams.

Today in SRF the householders are definitely marginalized in relation to the monastics, at an organizational level... although I don't get this in one to one interactions with monastics. I regret that the SRF board of directors is no longer mixed - householders and monastics. It was like this when PY passed. I know the party line about how PY wanted SRF governed in the future, but it doesn't square, in my mind, with everything he did before.
