Subject: Yogananda not just a Kriya Yoga Guru


We seem to forget sometimes that Yogananda was not just a teacher of Kriya Yoga.Yes it is true that his arrival in the West was on the pretext of spreading Kriya,but it does not take a genius to work out that providence had a bigger idea.Many souls have been inspired by Yogananda, not just those who received Kriya.Arguably more people have been deeply inspired by Yogananda who have NOT been involved in Kriya Yoga.After all,Kriya is not the only path.Yogananda is inspirational on so many fronts,so he is not the sole possession of Kriya Yogis.Daya Mata describes him as a World Teacher.I think she's absolutely right.The personality which that great soul assumed when he did appear on the World stage,had to incorporate public speaking and public charisma.These are not very acceptable character traits to the Eastern mentality,which is predominantly introverted.Yogananda's task was much greater than the spread of Kriya Yoga and none of the advanced Kriya Yogis of the time were equipped to facilitate such an impact on the spiritual consciousness of the World.
