It was dark and cold. Yea, that's the first thing I remember. I hate dark, and I hate cold even more. Sounds a lot like every other beginning of a bad story, but this story was anything but typical. I remember a peaceful time, a time when things were cool and sometimes warm, and I had friends at every turn. everything a girl could ask for.
Then it was all gone. One night in the quiet of the dark it was all gone. Like waking up into a nightmare. Another stereotypical scenero. There was only one guy left. My best friend. He was standing there in the middle of it all, watching the fire as though he'd known about it's coming for a long time. He had this funny little way of knowing these things, though he'd never tell me how. Hocus pocus, that's what i call it. He turned to me and smiled something sad...it kinda broke my heart to see it.
"Dami," I said, "what happened? Where is everyone?"
"Gone," he says. "The seers tales were right. Everyone's...dead."
And he was right. There was nothing around me but blood, now that I actually looked. Feathers were strewn everywhere. Both bladed and non.
"Why Dami? Why didn't they call for me?" I could feel the anger welling up inside me, as well as dispair.
"Because..." he finally turned to face me, and I saw then why he looked so sad. His entire front was covered in blood, most of which was his own. How he was still standing was beyond me. His favorite Swallow was in his hand, covered in what looked like a black ichor. A huge gash in his side said to me it was a mortal wound, and whoever it was that had attacked felt the same, and didn't finish him off. "...because you're the last one left...and we can't lose you."
The tears slid down my cheeks then. "That's not fair Dami...I'm not that important...I could've helped..."
"Not this time, Emi. You know how well I fight, and look what happened to me. No, kiddo, you've ended up like just about everyone else."
Everyone? "What happened to my parents...."
"..."
"Dami?"
"They're...they're...I can't say. I don't know where they are. I think they were..." he choked then, and couldn't say any more about it.
"It was that thing, wasn't it. That...chaos thing...."
He wouldn't look at me, and I knew it was true. That chaos creature had always bothered me. Only the seers knew the truth, and none of them would say a damn thing.
Dami swayed and fell to his knees. I went over to him then, and held him up, to hell about the blood. He was dying, and when he did, I would be alone. He looked up at me.
"I know what I have to do now....I've got to send you back to make sure this doesn't happen.."
I looked at him, unsure what he was talking about. "What....what are you talking about."
"What I've never told you about me, Emi...it my hold over Time."
"...I don't understand.."
"You will....soon enough. No one must ever know you're real name, Emi. From now on go by Emiko Himura."
He caressed my cheek gently, then place his hand on my forehead, then I remembered no more.

Starlit lavendar eyes opened to the dark. The quiet sounds of chirping insects was heard, muffled and far away, echoing slightly.
She got up, and rubbed her eyes, before looking at her blood covered hands. It hadn't been a dream, it'd been real. All of her lineage lay on her hands, her right glowed with the White Wind on the palm, and with the Infinity on the back.
"I'll never really know who I am anymore...."
She cleaned her hands in a small, shallow puddle of water, and moved out of the open maw of a huge tree. It seemed to be older than anything around, leaves wrinked and bright green.
"....where am I...? momma...papa..."
