He had gotten pretty immersed in the case file he was studying as he tended to do whenever he stopped focusing on her for a little while and actually work. Hence the reason it was quite a few rings before he finally picked up with a distracted "Holden" tossed out as a greeting. He hadn't even looked to see who it was that was calling and he wasn't quite cool enough to have different ringtones for everyone he knew. It just wouldn't be professional to have Whitesnake blaring everytime is phone rang...as much as he enjoyed Whitesnake every now and again. The cigar was smoking on the tray, a pen in his hand as he made little scratched notes in the margins of his file, occasionally jotting something down on a notepad next to him. Generally he would do all his work on his laptop but at the moment he was feeling to lazy to go get it from the bedroom where Dom had been looking up something or other in night the bed before. Of course, in bed, the laptop...he had offered the suggestion of maybe looking at some porn together to enhance their love life - like it needed enhanced - and had been promptly shot down and given a slightly disgusted look. Maybe that was why she hadn't been answering his phone calls earlier. At least she hadn't turned her phone off at all today, he absolutely hated when she did that, drove him nuts knowing there was NO WAY he could reach her if he needed too.
