Subject: If the daylight feels like it's a long way off
In reply to: Brett 's message, "Take a look at my girlfriend" on 10:27:25 01/13/07 Sat

The rest of the afternoon could have gone two ways - firstly and most unlikely, Brett would believe her when she said things were fine, and she would finish up her lunch, and Luca would confront her on her way out. There were too many people around for anything drastic to happen, she figured, but the idea of having to be face to face with him brought on a wave of nausea - but she thought she could handle it... As long she wasn't alone with him. The second way that things could go was just what had happened - he would show up, and things would go from there. Truthfully part of her was thankful that Luca had high-tailed it - he wasn't one to go down quietly and she would hate to see what could happen in a busy place like this. Her companions sitting wide-eyed at the table with her, she sat with her hands folded demurely in her lap - a quietly accepting expression on her face, perhaps subdued by some level of shock that he had actually been so close to her after all these months. She watched Brett a few tables away as he took the couple moments to calm himself, and wondered with a surprisingly calm mind what would happen now. She liked her friends - the girls that she sat with... They made her feel like her life was normal.
