Subject: Fairfield @ Marist on CSTV Internet

I am done suggesting that Fairfield video stream our basketball games over the Internet via CSTV. There appears to be no interest in pursuing this capability despite the great experience many of us had viewing the Hawaii game last year, the existence of the Media Center, and the interest of students in broadcasting games.

But for those of you who are interested in what videostreaming is all about, then Friday night is your opportunity when the Stags take on the Foxes. Marist is videostreaming their basketball games this year via CSTV. It will cost you $6.95, but, this will provide you access to Marist videostreaming for the rest of the season.

It does appear that Fairfield has no interest in providing videostreaming of the games. Another example of not reconnecting with the alumni. Alumni who can't get to the games or never could get to AHY are being ignored. The chance to get the students and the Media Center involved is wasted.

It is sad that as Fairfield alumni we need to go to the Marist website to watch our game. Marist seems to think that it is a priority to get their students involved and keep their alumni reconnected.

Father Von Arx has a proposal on his desk that was presented by his multi-media department to begin video streaming the games. The proposal has been on his desk for 11 months. I understand a decision is expected any one of these years, provided the year doesn't start with a "2"

The capability exists from Harbor Yard. The MM department has ordered the equipment. They want to do it. It could be done without too much difficulty. All they need is permission.

And I am willing to pay a $6.95 monthly fee or a $49.95 annual fee if you throw the videostreaming of the men's lacrosse games.

Men's lacrosse is even easier to do now because games are on campus and don't require any additional communications hookups like AHY requires.

For anyone without Direct TV, The Jan. 29 Fairfield/Canisius game is on MSG at 6:30pm. The women's game on Feb. 23 vs. Marist at 5:00pm is also on MSG. A full tv schedule of both MAAC men and women games are at www.maacsports.com.
