Where our all our sports information schills? Question! Are they still SO Busy doing all the other things on their extremely full plate? I would put the $250K into a competent S.I. staff over advertising. Bridgeport is asking questions that any fan would be asking. Is he asking too much? Seems he is with this crew.

Re: Information -- When the Stags Come Marching In..., 02:40:16pm 01/04/06 Wed, [1]
There are approximately 2,000 Stag fans who care, sometimes more if students are interested. Always has been, and seems as if there always will be. Where is some evidence of the marketing groups' work? Please don't mention a few billboards around town and a radio spot or two. Has anyone on this board ever been asked for input. Seems to me that many of the total 2,000 Stag fans in this world at least read this board. Has anyone been surveyed at games asking why they went that night, but possible not others. Is there ever any attempt to get young, impressionable fans involved, etc.? AAGH!!!

An injury update on the web page should not be too much to ask for.

Is this an NCAA rules issue (as it is common for professional sports teams to publish this information)?

Re: Information -- JoeStag, 07:50:30pm 01/04/06 Wed, [1]
This is what I have been told..... that the HIPAA Privacy act protects student/athletes against the school publicizing injuries or other medical issues. That is why you will never see that type of info in a press release. And I agree with salty (1st time :-), that it would be illegal to have an injury website. Supposedly the NCAA supports the HIPAA act.
However the issue here is not that we want to know the details about the injury, we just want to know how probable it is if the player will play the next game. That promotes fan interest. IMO, Fairfield is very consertive about following NCAA rules to the T.
But there is no reason that the CT Post could not try to find this info out...... however I believe Fairfied frowns on that as they have strick process and procedures on how the media gets their info and who the players talk to.
But the other aspect is that I think TOT does not want player availability info made public..... because the info would then be available to the opposition. All updates on injuries have come on game day, either in Casavant's Gameday Preview, or Huesler's Pregame show.

Like that's going to mean a rats ass on the outcome of the game. From a marketing perspective, these guys don't get it. You don't have to go into detail about an injury, but you can comment how an individual is generally doing. Anything that gives a hint on not giving out info., these guys jump on. The recruiting info. is an absolute disgrace. Fans don't want info. on a recruit when he shows up at the first practice in October. These people are always soooooo busy recruiting or whatever, but I don't see any results, do you?

Re: Information -- Nashville Stag Fan, 12:08:12pm 01/05/06 Thu, [1]
I know this has come up before, but to any Stag fan that does not read this board there would be no knowledge that they have a signed commitment for next year. It never hurts to create a little positive (and deserved) publicity concerning a possible star player coming in, especially when things are not going as well as expected so far this year.
