Subject: South Park Contagion: Lice

Besides the episode about The Homeless that someone else already posted on, the Lice episode best illustrates the communal contagion mechanism in South Park. The boys are all told that someone in the classroom has lice, and the usual contagion starts to spread throughout the class. A parallel narrative occurs on the Lice colony on Stan's head, where the Lice all blame one another for the destruction of their colony. All the boys in the class lock themselves in a room, trying to figure out WHO has lice (They even to the blood test from the movie 'IT' !!). As they get closer and closer to the moment of violence while attempting to find just WHO is the contagion, Mr Garrison steps in and tells them that everyone has lice and that they are all infected. The contagion rested not with any single individual: all were culpable. They should have looked to themselves rather than their neighbor for the infection they feared.
