Subject: Copenhagen

I recently saw a film called "Copenhagen" about the fatal conversation between Neils Bohr and Werner Heisenberg during WWII. It is perhaps the greatest thing to come out of PBS; I was completely suprirsed about how well done the film is.
This famous conversation was as controversial as it was muddled, and the more Heisenberg tried to explain himself in the conversation, the more muddled it actually becomes. It's a brilliant piece of art but especially because of mimetic desire. Heisenberg seems to change his purpose repeatedly because he has appropriated other's opinions about the war and his conversation. As he appropriates their desires, his understanding of the conversation changes as well. In effect, he forever masks his real intentions because it is swallowed up by others'.
I would encourage all of you to see it if you get the chance. It is on MelCat.
