Moreover, a nameless resident of Waterman said, "Actually, it was kind of fun to have a crisis" the day following the scare. I'd talked to Betsy that morning about how it was kind of like a mimetic crisis, and so when my dorm-mate said this, I couldn't help thinking, "Ah, yes, the catharsis." It reminded me a little of the prohibitions broken during ritual. Not that any prohibitions were broken in our dorm (in fact, it seemed like people were asking for extra prohibitions), but it reminded me of that there must be a very real sense of danger preceding the ritual so that the resolution can be genuine as well.
