Subject: Business Card scene from American Psycho

Here is the famous business card scene from American Psycho. I know the movie has been referenced in class and I would recommend watching the entire movie. I saw this a long time ago and this was one of the scenes I found to be most memorable. The first time I saw this scene I had no idea about Girard and mimetic theory; watching it again it is clearly a great example for this class. In the scene the main character Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) and some of his colleagues compare their business cards. There is one employee named Paul Allen (Jared Leto) who is the main rival for Bateman at this moment. In the beginning of the clip Bateman compares himself to another employee he gets confused for by Allen (except he makes sure that you know he is better than the other guy). You can also tell Bateman has a rivalry with Allen because they look a little alike too. Enjoy…
