I understand your uneasiness at people including Gandhi with positive models to be imitated. However, I dont think its fair to exclude him totally because of his failings. Yes he has flaws, but I have flaws as well, so do you. To think otherwise is foolish--which I know you're not doing. We dont have to let the negatives overwhelm the positives, this is why we have selective imitation. Otherwise we might as well not listen to Martin Luther King Jr. because he was a wife beater and he was not faithful to his wife. I hate to be cliche but then why should we listen to Thomas Jefferson because he owned slaves. The list goes on. I dont mean to be antagonistic and I do agree that there are better models than some to be imitated, yet I do not think it's right to say that someone's positive actions should not be taken into account because of their negative actions.
