Now, Girard does not claim to write theology. I agree that it is difficult to separate the literary or the anthropological theory from theology, but that is essentially what Girard asks us to do. So, if Girard's literary and anthropological theory is "not very Christological", it is probably because he does not mean it to be. Even if "all theology is Christology", from this it does not follow that "all anthropology is Christology". I hate to split hairs, but that's the best way I've found to look at it. Girard just isn't explicit enough with any theological statements for me to confidently attribute any real theological stance to him.
