Subject: Eyelid surgery and marriage by faith
In reply to: Joe 's message, "An abominable thing" on 10:24:58 02/07/05 Mon

This discussion of eyelid surgery among Koreans is fascinating. Caring about one's appearance is expected in the world. It is interesting that UBF Koreans showed the same superficial care for worldly appearance, having their 2nd gens receive eyelid surgery. How many Korean UBF women are directed to have eyelid surgery in order to marry an American shepherd for the glory of God? The older Koreans saying that they must make a decision of faith to have eyelid surgery for God's mission.

I was told that I would have to lose weight or else no Korean UBF woman would want to marry me. Wouldn't it have been funny if I had lost weight and married a Korean UBF woman who had eyelid surgery by faith?

I can only imagine our testimonies.

Mine: I am so thankful that God as blessed me to marry missionary (insert female Bible name here) for God's mission. At first, I was apprehensive to marry a foreign woman I did not know. Could a Korean woman really cowork with an American man to serve campus mission? But, when I saw her beautiful face with those 'western' eyelids, I knew she had love for American college students. I can see by her beautiful eyelids that she will be a great coworker for campus mission.

My Wife: I am so thankful that God has blessed me to marry a skinny, disciplined shepherd by faith. When I first heard of him, I was told he was defeated by his gluttonous desires for food. I wondered how a fat man could establish a house church for campus mission. But, then I heard that he lost much weight. His skinny stomach shows that he will be a great disciple of Jesus. I will pray to raise him up as an obedient servant for God's mission.
