Subject: The real story

Hey, Chris! Good topic. I would say that the best thing to do is find out about Santa Claus. There have been stories of people in history who have done good deeds around Christmas time which have immortalized them in the personification of Santa Claus. Who is the real Santa Claus? There have been stories about Saints who have given to the poor during Christmastime (Saint Nicholas) or other do-gooders who have been moved to help the poor and homeless during the season of the birth of Christ. If I were you, I would use the history and stories of the real Santa Clauses to use as a tool to teach your son about the love of Jesus, and how that love is selfless, and it can flow into things such as giving and community, things that are a true part of this holiday season. Point out what Santa Claus did do when he was alive, and that he did it to glorify God.

...If that is the case. I'm pretty sure that the stories are based on Saints and Missionaries who used Christmas as a time to actually spread love to those who were unloved by society. Find out the history behind it, and then talk through it with your son. It may bring your family closer!

Tom
