Perhaps we have different definitions of nationalism or perhaps we should distinguish between "Patriotism and Nationalism". I think it is only natural and good to love your country and have special feelings for your country more then other countries. Having these feelings does not mean that you dislike other countries, you can still love other countries, but your own country always has a special place in heart and mind. Even Jesus had special love for the Israel nation. There is a verse in the gospels that says he longed to gather them in his arms as a hen gathers her chicks.(paraphrase)

Of couse America is not perfect, no nation has a perfect history. But in the last 100 years America has helped many, many nations. There is no doubt that America has brought stability to the entire world through defeating Fascism and Communism. Even now Americans donate billions and billions of dollars through charity to other peoples and nations. Americans are a generous people.

You bring up racism agaisnt blacks. But even Blacks will tell you they love America and blacks are even more patriotic then white people. Why? Because its the ideals of America that have brought them freedom and civil rights.

Again, the great danger for America is a loss of identity. The more this happens the more America will become just a flop house for 2nd and 3rd world peoples with balkanization and constant in-fighting among its people. This could only lead to regional break-up of America or even outright civil war. I'm not saying this will happen tomorrow but could happen in the future.

Another positive aspect of nationalism or patriotism is the prevention of one world government. Many Christian Americans see one world government as the tool of the anti-Christ. I personally beleive that one world government can only lead to world misery, suffering and tyranny. The only way one world government will work is when Christ returns and sets up his own kingdom. And do not think that Christ will tolerate such a leader as Saddam Hussien. (OK thats a different topic)
