BELIEVE IT OR NOT- Check this red saree or this blue sareeIt happened in the recent national election in India.
The ex prime minister's party(BJP) distributed sarees in a election campaign in his constituency
For those who were not lucky yet to see their wives wear it, ( saree is a 5.5 meter long dress( see how difficult it is for indian husbands;)still our population is much more than europe;) clothe worn by indian ladies traditionally)
21 poor women were killed and several injured in a
stampede that broke out during distribution of sarees.
Guess what ,it backfired and made him lose the election.
Its very common in rural areas of india.I dont think americans will take the money and vote for him, but may be for the opponent.LOL
>You know, I think Kerry might have won the election if
>he did take $1.5bio of the budget and hand every adult
>person he saw a hundred bucks with the words "It's
>from Kerry, so remember Kerry when you vote". That
>would have stuck much better than much of the
>not-so-factual facts that he presentented to the
>undecided voters.
>Or, bucks are too plump, so just buy a few presents.
>Give every homeless person a new suit and a month's
>worth of "McDoomalds Sloppy Meal" and they would be
>overrunning the polling booths... just for some
>thoughts how the money could have been spent. :)
