I read the first of Brian Herbert's books - HOUSE ATREIDES. It was good, but not a classic.

Surprised to hear that. The people I've talked to have mostly said that Asimov was easier reading than Herbert, and I'd agree. Maybe you picked an unusually difficult Asimov book. And just so you know, the Robot movie has very little to do with Asimov's book other than the title. Haven't seen the movie, but highly recommend the book.
