That's basically what the GT is about. Yes, it *is* a hard ride, but very doable with the right preparation and approach. The first time I did it, my training consisted of 5 rides totaling 268km, with the longest ride being 83km, and the shortest 31km (I'm anal about keeping records :-) I was very tired when I finished, but I finished. You should plan to be on the road for a total of 7 hours and a bit each day including stops. That's at most an 18km/hr riding pace (110km divided by 6hr actual riding). During your training, try to ride faster than that and slow you pace down while on the tour. It will seem easier that way. As far as being run over by motorhomes, it's possible but rare.
