I don't know a single person whose expectations are as unrealistic as you seem to think they are, and I know quite a few uneducated people. Everyone I talk to who supports Obama is just excited that we've finally got somebody in office who actually cares about fixing this stuff (re: economy, environment), doing the right thing (re: war, torture), and is actually somewhat intelligent.
