January Nuisance Wildlife Solution Tip Of The Month

This month make sure you have completed all Tips for October, November, and December.

Although feeding wildlife seems like a humane thing to do, animals can find plenty of food without feeding them in your backyard (this includes bird feeders). If your feeding birds then your feeding squirrels and eventually they will make your home their home. Never feed raccoons under any circumstances. This will lead to more problems than you want to deal with. Raccoon damage can cost you several hundred dollars and in some circumstances five to ten thousand dollars if you have to replace soiled and infected insulation that raccoons have defecated on.

Keep an eye on the roof after a snowfall for animal tracks.

Start planning repairs to the exterior of the home and paint if needed. Replacing rotted wood and painting can deter wildlife intrusion. Rotted facia or peeling paint will attract squirrels and raccoons.

We hope you had a Merry Christmas and please have a safe and happy New Year.
